Always glad to see the updates R1665!

You can always count on shameless attention whores such as myself to keep people updated!

So a six minute fight. That's very, very time consuming.

I can relate on the "watching what you've done over and over" point, too. There comes a time when you've done so much animating that watching what you've finished already is much more fun.

Thanks for all the tips and help you've provided me thus far, especially with using Mugen to get animations and effects.

Here's a quick question for you regarding your opinion on something: Blood in my animation. I have a few people begging me to put in blood along with my hit sparks, but I'm not to sure how to go about it, or if it would even be a correct fit in a SFvsDBZ flash. Sure the fights are as brutal as I can make them, but it was never my intention to make it seem like they're killing each other.

Oh, and I'm on X360 as Sunrie.

Six minutes? Where did you get that?

I might extend the fight to five minutes depending on how the fight goes, but I have no plans to extend it to six. That is entirely too much for my style. I can only keep the audience on an adrenaline rush for so long.

With regards to blood, if you were trying to be more realistic with your fight, I'd suggest adding blood. There's no way that a fistfight between two enemies actively trying to kill each other wouldn't result in bloodshed. That's reality. However, since your fight is SF vs DBZ, reality is completely written off by default. It is no longer a factor in any way, shape, or form. That said, the issue becomes how close you wish to remain to the source material.

That's completely up to you.

My personal opinion on the matter is that since your fighters evidently aren't trying to kill each other and would (presumably) follow the battle mechanics of DBZ, then blood would look out of place.

R1665

Funny. i thought I was the only one with that problem. I haven't been getting as much animating done as I'd like to, since I like to spend more time replaying my movie tests. i never really thought of it as hypnotism, but more, I'm proud of what I have done so far. But, yeah. Anyway. Can't wait to see this one. But, I guess I'm gonna have to.

Where do you get all your Street Fighter & Marvel sprites because all I can find is MK sprites.

I pull all of my sprites out of MUGEN characters using Fighter Factory.

R1665

I got six minutes from you saying that three minutes is about halfway through. Figured you were going for a six minute fight.

That's my thought on the blood. I may add small blood splashes, but nothing over the top or even Mortal Kombat style. There was blood every so often in DBZ, but it wasn't a focus of the show. I think Bleach has more blood per episode than any DBZ season did.

Is there any way that you could send me some sprites of Ruy, Ken, & Gambit because I can't get any new programs until my uncle comes back from the military, and what's Fighter Factory?

"I can't get any new programs until my uncle comes back from the military"

Why? Are you using his computer?

Let me give you a tip. Sprite flash work, when done properly, takes a very long time and requires a great deal of dedication. The last thing you need after working for months on an animation is to have somebody come along and wipe it out because they perform a software upgrade or download a virus. Sometimes third parties simply delete the stuff on a whim.

There are lots of animators here on NG who get their stuff destroyed because they animate on other people's computers and can't control access.

If you don't have your own computer, or at least reliable access that is unlikely to be compromised by others, then I would suggest not getting into animating just yet. From the sound of it, you likely meet neither of those criteria. If you don't have your own setup, then you are facing a much higher probability of the soul-crushing loss of months of hard flash work.

You're better off waiting until you have more security.

Is Fighter Factory easy to use? I use Mugen Character Creator to rip my mugen stuff. It's a little annoying, since you have to save it as a PCX, then convert it to a PNG or something similar using Gimp or Photoshop before you can do anything with it. Anyway, yeah.

The earlier version of Fighter Factory is easy to use and much better than Fighter Factory Ultimate. The earlier version allows you to save as .gif and export palette swaps. Fighter Factory Ultimate will only export the "default" character palette and won't allow .gif export. The best it can do is .png, which results in a higher file size than .gif.

Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed with Fighter Factory Ultimate. Good thing I kept the installation file from the previous version. You have to play around with Fighter Factory a bit to figure it out and get the most use out it, but it is the most useful tool I have ever found for sprite work.

R1665

Figures. I have just about every MUGEN thing ripped that I need for my some of my sprite series. Figures I find out about an easier way after the fact. Never fails. Well, thanks anyway. If I do need to get more MUGEN stuff, that will probably be the easiest thing to use.

Stupid overly complicated programs and their overly complicated components...

You miss understand kind sir I have my own computer I just need the programs from my unc because he can get me evrything for free and all at once ( I have no job yet )

Time is no problem because I have too much and if my stuff gets erased its ok because I always save stuff 3 times ( 2 data sticks & computer )

As far as dedication well I've started hand drawing my own custom and unique character & there's no way I'm letting that go to waste.

But thanx for the advise it actually kinda helped in a way.

In that case, waiting shouldn't be an issue as both Fighter Factory and MUGEN characters are completely free. Of course, that does not apply to Flash itself or Photoshop (which comes in handy). How you procure these programs is none of my business.

You sound like you have a very good backup system. A little time spent saving backups is better than time spent angrily shaking your fist at the sky.

If you can't find the earlier version of Fighter Factory (before FF Ultimate), send me your email address in a PM and I'll try to find my original installation file for you.

Your GAMETAG is obviously going to be: R1665. I did not even have to think about that. Haha. Nice one. I don't have a PS3 nor a 360. :-( I just bought a new HD ready laptop though. :D

I just thought it would seem clever to write it that way as I am in the habit of signing my username to everything I post.

As you are evidently in the UK, you'd probably be in a better position to find me online than most people on my side of the pond. I play VERY late.

R1665

What a coincidence... so do I XD

Is it Exile episode 3? plz say yes!

Yup. I'm a one-series-at-a-time kind of guy.

R1665

Great work. You're almost done man.

I just have some last few questions i'll ask in a while:
a) what version of flash do you use?
b) what's the name of the book that taught you flash?

Thanks for listening.
Chimera

a) Macromedia Flash Professional 8

b) "Macromedia Flash Professional 8 Hands-On Training" by James Gonzales.

R1665

Its a really good thing you raced Suroy on quality... By the time he's done his movie you'll have released the third episode as well! :)

It sounds as though your movie is almost complete... HOW MUCH LONGER lol

Now that you've used talbain and johnny cage in their respective fights, does that mean you won't use them any more? fighting wise?

I'm afraid that I cannot reveal that at this time.

R1665

wait you play live? how late do you play? any games of interest?

Typically, I play very late in the night (or very early in the morning depending on your perspective).

Usually around 0200 - 0500 (Eastern Standard Time).

The only games I really bother playing anymore are sandbox style games like GTAIV and Saints Row 2. I will pretty much only play GTA in multiplayer Free Mode these days. I'm just not the gamer I used to be.
