In MK9, Cyrax and Sektor gave Shao Kahn the Lin Quei's loyalty. After Shao Kahn realized how much more powerful Cyrax and Sektor were as cyborgs, he could of decided to give them Reptile and have him turned. Then maybe Reptile would go rogue too?

I was dissapointed that Liu Kang wasn't a zombie for his alternate OR at all in the story mode. Then again, Raiden takes him with the survivors to "tend to their wounds". Maybe Raiden could get the Elder Gods to bring him back to life but as a zombie. Then Liu Kang turns to the dark side because of what Raiden did to him.

The huge cliff hanger at the end of the story mode definitely has me already pumped for the next game. I NEED to know what happens! :P

Oh and by the way,

"Individual character endings are almost never canon."

Underline 'almost' XD

I think that if Kabal did get fully rebuilt, he would become a REALLY popular character, and there's a lot of places that scenario could go. Maybe he even COULD stay a good guy, depending on whether or not that nazi is good.

Wait, a good nazi? I'm gonna stop talking and go to bed ;)

As for the next MK, the idea of having the Netherealm army be the dead earthrealm fighters would work perfectly. Evil Lui Kang? Might make me stop hating on him. As for Earth's fighters, there's Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Sonya (I think that's all of them) who survived. If Outworld teams with Earthrealm, then you'd have Shang Tsung, The Shokans, Baraka, Mileena, Cyrax, and Sector, join with Earth (not entirely sure thats all of them). I would like to see the MK4 cast of new arrivals join the game, Kai, Fujin, Reiko, Jarek, Tanya, and obviously Shinnok and Quan Chi. Basically I'm expecting a plethora of characters to choose from, and somehow, somehow, the Sacred Amulet will bring back the fallen Earthrealm fighters to life

Not Shang Tsung. He was killed in the MK9 Story Mode.

--MK10 Predictions--

Cyrax and Sektor are Lin Kuei. While it is true that they were working for Khan, Khan is now dead. Their allegiance will lie with wherever the clan tells them to go. They're wildcards.

Considering that both Sindel and Shao Khan are now dead, I believe that Reiko will be placed as the new leader of the Outworld faction. He's the only logical choice as the only "royal" left alive to claim the throne is Mileena, and she's just a clone.

With Shao Khan and Shang Tsung dead, Kano has nobody in power left in Outworld to support him. Since Jax is dead and Sonya will have her hands full with other matters, I believe that his "enemy" in the next game would have to be Jarek. I'm thinking that it would either have to be a power grab on Jarek's part, or Jarek seeking to punish him for betraying Earthrealm.

Those are my thoughts for now.

Awesome, good to see Charlie again. Looks.... Badass, and I can't wait to see your take on him. Also, I want to see his opponent... It has to be a MK character, so I'm assuming... Why do I wanna think Kano? I know you won't tell, but it my mind, it's fitting.
Aaaaand ... Aaaabooout the MK9 ending *SPOILERS*

Well, Shang got killed. Pwned. Ruined. By Shao Kahn. An he had alotta souls, so I am going to assume Shao powered up Sindel with the souls. Juuuust a thought. >_>;

Also, the fight was just for gameplay purposes. You can assume she was toying with her prey for it. And Nightwolf killed himself and Sindel with a variation of his fatality. Nightwolf is capable of powerful stuff. The whole Deception 'Sin-Eater' thing. Also, it was a sacrifice to kill Sindel. He didn't need to kill Scorpion. Scorpion had no reason to kill Nightwolf. Sindel... just killed everyone that Nightwolf had spent the last few days with, so.... It's safe to assume Nightwolf was ready to pull off a greater good for Earthrealm.

"An he had alotta souls, so I am going to assume Shao powered up Sindel with the souls. Juuuust a thought. >_>;"

I'll refer you to my previous explanation of the inefficiency of souls a few posts up.

----------

"The whole Deception 'Sin-Eater' thing."

...did not occur in this timeline. In Deception, he BECOMES a sin-eater and grows more powerful. The fact that he is CAPABLE of doing this does not make him any more powerful in the here and now. I'm capable of bench-pressing 250 lbs. However, it's not gonna happen until I get my ass to the gym and pump iron for six months.

-------------

"He didn't need to kill Scorpion. Scorpion had no reason to kill Nightwolf."

It wasn't about killing Scorpion, it was about not being able to beat him. At that point in time, there would be no reason for Nightwolf to hold anything back considering that Earthrealm would be destroyed if Outworld won the tournament.

The situation was no less important then as it was when Sindel attacked.

--------------

"It's safe to assume Nightwolf was ready to pull off a greater good for Earthrealm."

...during the events of MK3, but not MK1?

Nightwolf wasn't seeing those visions like Raiden. With Earthrealm on the line in MK1, it would make no sense for him to hold anything back in any of his fights. Despite that, Scorpion defeated him.

R1665

*Cracks fingers.* Okkaaayy...

Love your work, R1665, but lemme propose my argument.

The fact that he CAN is enough to show his potential to do incredible things. He CAN be strong enough to do so. He was, by all he knew, one of the last surviving Earthrealm warriors, along with Raiden and Liu Kang. He had no chance to check on Johnny and Sonya, yet. In the MK1 tournament, quite a few Earthrealm warriors were still alive and the tournament, including Sonya and Johnny Cage. If anyone else won, then Earthrealm would still have 9 more tournaments to go, and they COULD use his help then. Sindel was showing Shao Kahn like powers, and Liu Kang could not defeat both of them at once. So he struck back. With all he had. Sindel playing with her prey got her killed, because of Sub-Zero had the same opportunity, he would of pulled off a similar thing.

I suppose that is a fair assessment. I concede my point as it pertains to Nightwolf's seemingly inconsistent performance. However, my points regarding Sindel's power levels still hold. There is still no reliable mechanism by which she could have done what she did. She exhibited no level of superhuman skill when eliminating the Earthrealm warriors and the power of souls, as I have previously explained, is inadequate for explaining the inconsistency.

Therefore, I still call bullshit on that scene.

R1665

I can see where you're coming from, but I personally think it's a good way to set it up for the 4/Gold storyline, and it could be a good point for non-4/Gold characters to show up- I'm looking at you Kia, Sareena, Jataaka, and Bo Rai'Cho.

As I said, I have no problem with them killing everybody. I just have a problem with the bullshit way they did it. The Sindel scene made the Earthrealm kombatants look like a bunch of drunken chumps who would struggle against Dan Hibiki.

They're probably going to bring back and redesign the MK4 rookies before worrying about adding anybody new (aside from the Skarlett DLC). It's much easier to reinvent the old cast than to create new guys. This is especially true considering that their track record for making new kombatants after the MK4/Gold era is pretty bad.

A few hits, a WHOLE LOT of misses.

R1665

I liked Shinnok... was a FINAL boss material character, maybe not, but you never know, maybe in the next game they will give him some mystique that will make us all believe he is a final boss type character...

and btw, VG Exiles 3...release date approaching?

The release date is always approaching. It's just a question of how long it is going to take to arrive.

R1665

@Travis

.... I.... He...

Okay, yes, he is a horrible boss in MK4. Wait. Hold on. Lemme check how he was in MKM: Sub-Zero.
.
.....
.

Okay, he's a pathetic boss. But they can redeem him.... I hope.

I think it would definantly be nice to see a new cast just as long as they do it right & keep the same sort of feeling that the original line up brought forth. In the next one bring out a new champion that's far better than Liu Kang to kill Shinok while Scorpion kills Quan Chi after finding out the truth. Who's to say many of the other characters didn't have children or students of some kind to carry on after wards. Now that everyone's dead they've opened the door to endless possibilities for the future of MK. I say why not just completely move on & start over with new enemies or ideas instead of coming back with the same characters every few years. Don't get me wrong i love the original cast but I'm just hoping for something fresh next time around instead of a MK4 remake in an altered universe.

The MK characters are "undead" dead. Not "dead" dead. Undead dead is not permanent.

Personally, I don't want to see too many new characters showing up considering their lousy track record with making new characters after MK4. In fact, I would argue that the "good" ones that were created since then (like Kenshi, Frost, and Bo Rai Cho) are only good by comparison to the rest of the new blood. The "good" ones are just walking gimmicks. (the blind swordsman, Sub-Zero with boobs, and the puking drunken master).

Still, that's evidently far more successful than being utterly forgettable: Taven, Daegon, Drahmin, Kobra, Dairou, Shujinko, Havik, Nitara, Darrius, Hotaru, and Hsu Hao.

Sure, some people may like them on an individual level, but the vast majority are going to be ambivalent at best regarding them. They are disregarded, which is far worse than being hated.

Consider Mokap. He is arguably the least inspired out of the entire cast. There is literally nothing to the guy. He has no appealing feature aside from the novelty of his existence. He's Meat without the gore gimmick. Despite this, he is still relevant by virtue of the fact that people HATE him. People hate on Mokap constantly. Say what you will about him, but he is memorable if for none other than that reason. Most people who are familiar with MK will have an opinion on the guy.

Dairou? Nobody gives a flying fuck about Dairou.

...and that's WAY worse.

R1665

In the next mk I would like to see fujin murder raiden. Reiko wreak havoc on earthrelm warriors. Kai(liu kang's student) step up to the plate and become a major character after his masters death. And for the big finale dun dun dun I would like to see Johnny cage be the mortal kombat champion. I think after he would kill shinnok he should say a movie phrase that would be awesome for the next game to me.

There won't be any other Mortal Kombat Champion but Liu Kang. To be a champion requires winning a tournament. MK1 and MK2 were tournaments. MK3 was open warfare. No tournament, no champion.

damn you're really rescourceful!!!
but that does explain alot.....

Shinnok is a wuss. I never had trouble beating him in MK4. I've always had trouble with the other bosses or sub bosses like Moloch, Kintaro and Shao Kahn. In speaking of Shao Kahn, how the hell did he get past Onaga? If He was so worried that he would rather poison Onaga than fight him, then what does that tell you?

@Travis. Oh, really?
If they can tap into his inner potential, he can be a good boss. He had a super mode in MKM:SZ. He has the powers of a God, that are amplified even moreso by his amulet. His MK:A attacks showed potential. He has the ability to go beyond that. He has THE ENTIRE NETHERREALM AS A POWER SOURCE! He -can- be redeemed.

"Inner potential"?

Bah. Shinnok has been little more than a bitch ever since he first made his debut. Despite supposedly being a Fallen Elder God, he was defeated by Raiden, a lesser god, and Liu Kang (in the original timeline).

There is absolutely nothing about him plotwise that is terribly important. His amulet is of far more significance than he is, and the details of that amulet were never fully explained. It was such a weak plot device that the amulet made no further significant plot appearances. Anything Shinnok can do, Quan Chi can do better. IMO, they need to kill off Shinnok early in the next game and have Quan Chi usurp his position and become the new boss.

"He has THE ENTIRE NETHERREALM AS A POWER SOURCE!"

1. Shinnok is neither a necromancer nor a sorceror. By what means would he tap into said power? Raiden certainly wasn't made stronger by souls in Earthrealm.

2. If that kind of power was available to him, he would have also had it in the original timeline. It apparently wasn't enough to beat Liu Kang then, so why would it be any different now? In fact, the Shinnok in THIS timeline would have several billion souls fewer considering the Soulnado wasn't able to take hold in Earthrealm and capture all of the souls.

3. The developers are so incredibly inconsistent regarding what manner and level of "power" is granted by souls that the whole idea pretty much becomes ridiculous. IMO, of course.

R1665

@Megalomaniacal

He was carried off by Onaga in the intro to MKA.... I am going to assume he broke Onaga, and ran back to finish everyone else off.

I agree that characters like Kobra, Dairou, Hotaru, etc. were terrible, but I actually thought Havik was a good character.

Havik, if expanded on, would be an amazing character and a pretty unique one. He's the only playable character from Chaosrealm, he inflicts pain on himself. All he needs are more creative special moves and a whole moveslist overhaul to fit the rest of the MK9 characters speed. And I know it's kind of stupid, but I actually really liked Bo Rai Cho. I'd like to see him in the next installment.

But yeah, after MK4, the creativity in the new characters was non-existant. Dairou? Pretty much a normal guy with a ponytail with gay special moves that nobody remembers.

Kobra? An ordinary guy who knows karate but loves violence so much that he joins an evil clan. Also incredibly gay special moves.

Shujinko? An old fart who screwed over royally and becomes a hero in the end? A pitiful excuse for a fresh new main character. Absolutely pitiful. And that Konquest mode in Deception was way too long with too much walking around aimlessly and a bad story. The best part about Konquest? Being a 10-year-old boy who lives in a village and punches people out and kills people. And that was only the start.

By the way, why does everyone hate Hsu Hao? I wasnt a fan of the guy, but he had a mechanical heart. Thats something special! Am I right? :)

A man with a mechanical heart.... I'd take that over a lame, ordinary guy who knows karate any day. (Kobra)

If the MK team hated the guy so much, what made them still throw him in the game? AND bring him back for Armageddon? It was their decision to include every MK character ever, but c'mon, if you wish you'd never even thought of the guy, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to make an exception.

I think that the whole "Chaosrealm/Orderrealm" thing was a mistake from the very beginning. What you basically have here are entire realms (seemingly just as valid as Earthrealm, Outworld, and Edenia) that are nothing but worlds of cliche. I believe that their existence in canon cheapens the remaining worlds.

They are two realms that have absolutely no significance, no depth, and no reason to exist aside from the whole bullshit Yin-Yang thing that the developers were apparently into. They could have been replaced with the "Circlerealm" and the "Squarerealm" without losing a single shred of significance.

"He's the only playable character from Chaosrealm"

...which never should have been created by the devs in the first place.

"he inflicts pain on himself"

...which is, tactically speaking, a PROFOUNDLY bad idea for a fighting game.

"And I know it's kind of stupid, but I actually really liked Bo Rai Cho. I'd like to see him in the next installment. "

I don't think that'll be a problem. He was referenced more than once in MK9, so he will most likely have a presence in later games.

"Shujinko? An old fart who screwed over royally and becomes a hero in the end? A pitiful excuse for a fresh new main character. Absolutely pitiful. "

Agreed. Taven was almost as bad.

"By the way, why does everyone hate Hsu Hao? I wasnt a fan of the guy, but he had a mechanical heart. Thats something special! Am I right? :)"

I'd say not. When you have a cast filled with mechanical eyes, mechanical arms, and full-blown cyborgs, a radioactive pacemaker becomes considerably less ballsy. Also, his character design was atrocious. He looked like a really REALLY bad WWE gimmick. I almost expected Vince McMahon to show up in his ending.

"I'd take that over a lame, ordinary guy who knows karate any day. (Kobra)"

Kobra wasn't ordinary. He displayed many metahuman capabilities. If he's "ordinary", then so is Johnny Cage.

R1665

"The developers are so incredibly inconsistent regarding what manner and level of "power" " - Maybe you should give them Vegeta's scouter. ;-)

To me, Johnny kind of is an ordinary guy.

But although he's pretty ordinary, he is also funny AND a movie star! He also has really nice moves and combos.

I can't believe that you remembered Kobra could use energy shit and whatever. But I dunno, I guess if Dairou and Hotaru and others had been replaced by cooler characters, Kobra wouldn't stand as a TOTAL loser in my books. To me, every fighting game is allowed 1 terrible character. You always need that stale guy to make everyone else look cooler. But Deception had too many of those.

If a game has characters like MK9, could maybe allow two stale characters. MK9 was great because all of the characters were memorable and they were all very unique.

MK9 is obviously the best Mortal Kombat yet in my opinion.

WHat's with all the haters????

captaindrbob is butthurt because I left him a bad review. He took it personally and now he, his alt account captaindrbob1, and clueless friend armyguy3232 think they're going to punish me.

Pitiful, isn't it?

R1665

Anyway I just saw a trailer for the new DLC character for Mortal Kombat and she is brutal!!!!

mortal-kombat-skarlet-dlc-trailer</a>

I must admit to being less than impressed with Skarlett. Her moves seem good enough, but I find her character design unconvincing. She seems too much like "red Mileena".
